YE Rally Debrief and Chapter news

As you already know, John Spain sent out an email right after our Young Eagle Rally event. Thank You all for making this a great event! It was fun to offer rides to the kids here at BMG! 5 Pilots and their airplanes volunteered to give 31free rides to the youth of the area! Our ground volunteers made sure everyone was safely escorted on and off the ramp for this event.

Kids were flown and as far as I know no one left disappointed. We did have some technical issues getting up and running the day of the event, but our "Mr. Laptop," Todd Kuebelbeck was able to make it happen. 31 flights! My goal was a safe event and all who wanted to ride did so. At a post event meeting with the airport all they said was "all I saw were smiles!"

A flight isn't done until the debrief is complete, this is fundamental to all things in aviation. I would like to have a followup meeting this Saturday (27Sep) at 1000 so we can discuss lessons learned (relearned) from our Rally. If you have an input please come and share your ideas or learn what happened if you weren't part of the event. Brainstorming will be encouraged. 

A big thank you to Rex Hinkle of Cook Aviation for offering discount fuel to our YE pilots for their participation in the event as well. 

On the heals of our Young Eagles Rally, over at BMG Aviation. Cameron Foutch one of our newest chapter members soloed in a Cessna 172! I'm not sure he has landed yet! Great Job Cameron!




I'll bet he has completed a few more solo flights as he works towards his Private Pilot License. 

I hope to see you all this Saturday for Donuts and Coffee at the meeting house.

A Saturday at the Club House

Some of you are aware that we were attempting to do some Young Eagle flights  tomorrow morning. That fell through since the organization we were working with had a change of heart, so it will be business as usual for the EAA 650 Saturday morning hangar flying session at the club house.  For those of you who were weren't aware Jerry received his Wright Brothers Master Pilot award given by the FAA for pilots who have flown for over 50 years of accident/incident free flying.  This was a surprise ceremony following Jerry's presentation on flying in Vietnam complete with training aids! Jerry also prepard a breakfast casserole as well as a birthday cake with ice cream since it was just a few days past his birthday. Here is a press release I sent out to the local papers. Saturday Doings 2023

 6 Jan- Steve Clark, Trip to the Great North flying across Canada and Alaska in his RV-10.          Thanks Steve, good turnout and great presentation of your adventure 4 Feb- Ask the CFI, Chuck Molzon local CFI will be in to discuss the things we always forget about. Rules and regulations that only get brushed up on prior to a flight review. Bring your EFB (electronic flight bag) to be able to quick reference material. If you are a paper guy bring that too. 4 Mar BMG Airport Manager, Carlos Laverty will be here to update us on the many projects occurring at the airport and answer questions you might have. 1 Apr TBD Road trip with car pool and fly out destination.  6 Mar TBD Road trip with car pool. Taylorcraft on a trailer Update

 Pre Staged the Taylorcraft for going to the paint booth. Due to an equipment issue at the painting facility there is a delay in getting the T-Craft painted. Apparently the type of paint used to paint the aircraft requires a specific type of mask the painter must use and they do not have one. The mask has been ordered and will be here next week. Our hope is that we can move the aircraft to the paint shop late next Thursday or early on Friday. The aircraft is loaded on the trailer and ready to go so once we get the OK from the paint shop we will deliver the aircraft. The painter has agreed to paint the wings and the fuselage on the same weekend so we can get everything painted at the same time. All the small pieces along with the paint supplies have been delivered to the paint shop so there should not be any further delays.
