RV-10 Completion Party

If you missed the Gala on Sunday afternoon. Peggy Frisbie put together a fabulous feast to celebrate Richards completion of his RV-10, an epic 20 year journey that has him grinning ear to ear as he has every right to!

(Ed note: You are never complete building your airplane, you just stop working on it!)

Yes Richard has a little bit more to do however he has flown of the mandatory flight time and the world awaits destinations of Richards choice!

The first order of business before the event was EAA 650 lead by chapter president John Spain, and a dozen or so cleaning both inside and out to the chapter meeting house, including a pressure washing the outside of the building.
Sunday afternoon there were vans shuttling folks back and forth to Richards hangar for an open house to look over his airplane.  Many had seen or participated in the construction, bucked rivets, sewn upholstery, handed tools or provided that "third hand" etc, over the years.  But had never met the finished project.  I got to fly as chaperon on the early flights where we started to examine the flight envelop of the airplane, it’s fast!
Just before we dug into the sumptuous BBQ. Peggy and Richard spoke emotionally about how this has been a very long journey and were grateful for the help and support over the many years by friends and family that allowed them to persevere to project completion.

In addition to Richards RV-10 in the Hangar. Mark Rinehart has his RV-7 in the same hangar and it too received attention from the visitors. And not to be outdone a recent addition to that hangar is the Glassair by Russ Goodwine that will not be flying until 2026 but it looks like all the pieces are there. 80% done and only 40% to go, right Russ?
