Subject: Chapter update

If you missed it, three weeks ago Chef Edward prepared a great pot of Chili while we discussed the world affairs at the EAA Chapter 650 HQ.  I added our event on socialflight.com  and were able to attract a fly-in specifically for our event. In addition we posted our announcements at the FBO's and had a pilot from a fractional jet that was waiting the football game come up for a visit.
It was wonderful to see new folks in our midst.

Then your scribe noticed on Socialflight.com destinations nearby. So I arranged and announced to you all about a Friday fly out to Huntingburg (HNB) airport. I called ahead and they confirmed they had a crew car for our use. Two airplanes made the 52 mile flight (non stop)  to HNB. Five of us piled into the crew car for the drive to Jasper for dining at the German restaurant, Schnitzelbank. Great food!  It's the first time I had Kraut made from turnips it was great! I think I like it better than the stuff made with cabbage. If you are flying or driving stop into Schnitzelbank  for a great meal. I know the 5 of us highly recommend a stop.

Upon return to the Huntingburg airport we discovered a cute little BushCat ELSA https://bushcat.aero on the flight line with its pilot. We spent a few minutes inspecting this Rotax powered airplane. It is all fabric covered with a material like Sailcloth not the traditional covering encountered on Classic and homebuilt airplanes.

So that was all history

Coming up….
Veterans day is next week 11 November.  Many of our chapter members are veterans.  Thank you! If you didn't serve take the time to thank a veteran.
On that same theme Lee Greenwood will be performing in Nashville this Saturday. He made famous the "God Bless the USA" anthem.
Veteran discount tickets are available.

8 November 2025 VetRock Concert with Lee Greenwood at the Brown County Music Center, Nashville, IN.  Discount tickets for veterans will be available. This event link is athttps://www.ticketmaster.com/event/05006237C1C540CE and the military discount code is:  VETSROCK and If you visit the Brown County Music Center box office in Nashville, IN and simply state you are a veteran, they will apply the military discount for you at the box office in Nashville, IN.  Wear your appropriate military service caps, patches, etc to the event.  Tickets still available.

I'll see you at the show!

Another great program in the Patriotic theme is on Veterans Day at the Brown County High School.

11 November 2025 Veterans Day.  Veterans Day is observed on November 11 in commemoration of the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. Hostilities officially ended in 1918 at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.Formerly called "Armistice Day," the holiday was originally intended to honor veterans of the First World War. Later, the meaning of the holiday was expanded to include all US military who served in either wartime or peacetime.  There will be a formal program at the Brown County high school, Nashville, IN from 8:30am-Noon.  Veterans will be served a free lunch and social hour is at 8:30am and program begins at 9:30am.

If you come early (0830) we have coffee and doughnuts for vets. Even if you aren't a Vet please come. The entire Brown County school system from grades 4 and up will be present.  Lots of children being exposed what service above self is all about. Speakers in the past have included a USS Indianapolis survivor who spent 3 days in the water before being rescued, what a moving presentation.
Lunch afterwards. The only thing it will cost you is your time.

And another event for your dance card is the 6 Dec Brown County Bald Eagles event as we commemorate the 7Dec1942 attack on Pearl Harbor that sparked the US entry into WW2. Plan on a sumptuous buffet lunch and listen to The Freeman field Museum (SER) Curator, Larry Bothe speak about the significant history in our back yard. This one isn't free, A $20 bill will be collected, you won't leave hungry. Look for a meeting announcement latter in Nov and a RSVP will be asked at that time.

In 2026:
Breakfast/Chili lunch by Chef Edward
Chapter fly out for $300 hamburger.
More Young Eagle events get signed up as a volunteer or pilot.
There are three other project airplanes progressing at the airport. Maybe we can do a Saturday to visit those airplanes.

PS,
Richard Frisbee is airplane less. His RV-10 is in Florida for a paint job expect too see the prettiest airplane at the airport in 2026!
